What To Do If You Suddenly Become Lost In The Bush
Light a fire with lots of green wood for maximum smokiness. Wait for someone to save you, if it doesn;'t happen, feed the flames and hunt for edible things that aren't poisonous, and then if no-one saves you do this... Scream for help until you get bored
Climb the tallest tree you can find and climb to the tippy top of it so that you can search for landmarks or something familiar (or a river)
If you see something familiar climb down the tree and walk in the general direction of the familiar thing, then climb another tree after a while to see if you are any closer, and keep doing this until you reach your destination, and then keep doing this until you aren't lost.
If there wasn't anything familiar, search for a river and walk downstream with it until you reach the sea, at which point you can walk along the beach in either direction until you find civilisation.
How To Make Damper
1
Using your finger or a clean stick, make a pit right in your bag of flour.
2
Add water and stir it around gently until a ball of flour forms around the stick. When the ball starts moving in the opposite direction, remove it from your bag. You may need to repeat this step once or twice until you get the volume of dough that you want.
3
Pat the dough into an inch-thick cake and wrap it in several fresh green leaves. Place the cake on the hot stone and cover it with gray ashes and hot coals.
4
Check on your cake in about 10 minutes by pressing a stiff stem of grass into it to see if it comes out clean. If it does, it is done!
How To Make A Stretcher
Find two poles about 8' long, and thick enough to hold up your patient's wight.
Place them onto a blanket or tarp, so that a there is enough slack on each side of both sticks for the blanket/tarp to fold to the other stick, and there is enough room between your sticks to lay a person out comfortably.
Make sure that you still have stick poking out on either side of the cloth. If the cloth is to large, fold it up, but make sure it will hold your patient comfortably.
Fold one side of the cloth over, so it reaches the other side
Now, fold the other side over the sticks.
Fold the second side more, as necessary
Place your patient on the stretcher, but do not pick it up yet.
Once the patient is securely on the stretcher, carefully and slowly pick it up. The patient's body weight should hold the stretcher together.

How To Read A Compass
-
You look at the compass and turn your body stiffly until the red needle is pointing towards the letter 'N' which represents north, then just go from there, it really isn't very hard

Diary thing
Day 1
Dear Diary Today I went to the bush to participate in a bush survival challenge, I'm still here doing it. Today we built the hut, which was unco-ordinated to a degree. Then we 'hunted' for food which was just searching. Then we did the stretcher stuff. That's it. I really felt pretty much just annoyed at teammates. Due to incompetence, vanity and laziness. SKILL: Effective communication
When you used it (what challenges ortasks)
How you usedit/demostrated it (this should be really clear and detailed)
How did it impacton others (you andthe group orteachers)
Could you have improved it and how
Constructing the hut
I helped by telling people what to do and doing it myself
The hut was less cold than it could have been
Yes, by others listening and performing tasks correctly
Food treasure hunt
Yelled out the code word in order to alert my team members that food was found
The others were alerted to the presence of food
No, as I can only yell so loud
River rafting
Screamed at my teammates to help hold the raft together
No, it was as good as it couold possibly get
Orienteering
Helped people climb stuff by telling them what to do.
Yes, by giving better advice
SKILL: Problem Solving
When you used it (what challenges or tasks)
How you usedit/demostrated it (this should be reallyclear and detailed)
How did it impacton others (you andthe group orteachers)
Could you have improved it and how
Cleaning Dishes
I had no utensil to wash the dishes with, so I used my phalanges.
The team was ungrateful yet probably pleased that there were cleanish dishes to eat off.
No
Hut Insulating
The hut was not insulated so I insulated it with ferns. With a little help from Rory and Papuni.
The team was ungrateful yet probably pleased that there was some wind blockage and a lack off chilly cold.
Yes, used more insulation
Hut Placement
We had to decide where to put the hut, so we decided where to put it with decisive finger pointing and lazy agreement.
The team was displeased as the ground had tree roots all over it.
Yes, picked a better spot
Sleeping Arrangements
The hut was overpopulated with loud and obnoxious females so I solved the problem by leaving.
They had to continue putting up with the loud obnoxious females, whereas I did not.
No
SKILL: Teamwork
When you used it (what challenges ortasks)
How you used it/demostrated it (this should be really clear and detailed)
How did it impact on others (you and the group or teachers)
Could you have improved it and how
Stretcher Racing
I helped by holding up the stretcher along with many other teammates and thus used teamwork in order to achieve whatever goal was to be achieved
My team succeeded in the task and were happy with the meat.
Yes, by increasing the amount of helpfulness that I did.
Building the Hut
I helped by doing work for the team and put appropriate insulating ferns and sticks on the sticks we call walls.
They weren't as cold as they could have been, my teammates I mean.
Yes, by putting more on.
Orienteering
I demonstrated teamwork by guiding teammates into slightly less dangerous paths.
Those who I helped were put into slightly less danger than they could have put themselves into.
Yes, by giving insanely good advice as opposed to regular advice.
Making Damper
I helpededed teamworkish by kneading most of the damper dough.
The damper was semi-kneaded and the team ate it.
Yes, by being more successful in my attempts to knead the damper.
SKILL: Supporting and encouraging others
When you used it (what challenges or tasks)
How you used it/demostrated it (this should be really clear and detailed)
How did it impact on others (you and the group or teachers)
Could you have improved it and how
Bedtime
I encouraged (with poor results) other people to stop being incredibly loud and annoying.
It somehow didn't work and teammates were still very annoyed with the loud and annoying people regardless of the encouragement you read about earlier.
Yes, by viciously and brutally murdering the guilty party that instigated the annoyance of the team. But short of that I don't think there was much else I could do
Rafting
I encouraged and supported others into holding the raft together as we drifted.
The team was happy because the raft stayed together and our team got the fastest time for that particular event.
Not really
Orienteering
I supported and encouraged people in the (apparantly) correct direction.
They went in the seemingly correct direction.
I could have improved it by actually going in the correct direction as opposed to following the guy with the compass who couldn't go up in a straight line.
Building the Raft
I encouraged and supported my teammates to construct the raft
