Play it Safe

In our Survivor Camp I took part in the building of the raft. In this activity I demonstrated the following responsible behaviours: compliance with instructions, assisting and supportin others. My behaviours affected the physical safety of my group in a negative yet positive manor. Because my job was to untwine the rope so it would be longer and we'd have more rope, although it made the rope we used thinner and weaker. I demonstratedcompliance with instructions by doing as I was told and untwining the rope, I demonstrated assisting and supporting others by helping the team build the raft with my rope untwining skills. The phsical safety of my teammates was both supported and threatened as the raft was held together better, but more likely to fall apart if the rope snapped. I think the emotional safety was affected positively because my job consisted of no put downs and it showed others that even the little jobs are important. I only know that this was important because the raft held together, sort of, despite the truly poor knots tied. Thankfully I didn't tie the horrible knots. These things made it so we won the raft race and our emotional/physical safety was good. These were the consequences of me putting into action responsible behaviours. I probably could have needed to change my behaviour more and do more for the team, although in saying that, if I hadn't behaved in such a way the little job would not have been completed and the task could have been potentially jeopardized, potentially. The influence of my responsible behaviours on safety was moderately influencing.

In our Survivor Camp I took part in the building of the hut. In this activity I demonstrated the following responsible behaviour: assissting and supporting others. I pretty much just tried to give the hut wind resistance by placing ferns along the sticks that boundarised our construction. My behaviours affected the physical safety of the group in a positive way, because my flimsy fern wall construction could have potentially stopped flying debris from hitting my teammates during the night. I demonstrated managing self by doing it without really being asked to do it. Papuni helped, well he did quite a bit of it, but I'll tae all the credit for that. Yip. Physical safety of the team: improved. Why: Less cold in the wind due to a stopping of wind via fern wall. Emotional safety of the team: improved. Why: Because the lack of intense wind whilst sleeping kept everyone emotionally stable, now if only those loud girls would shut the hell up we'd be perfect. This wasn't really important, but it was because not only did it offer protection from the wind and privacy of sorts, it added aestetic appeal to the hut. My behaviour in doing this was appropriate ad helpful. The influence of my responsible behaviours on safety was moderately influencing.
